Brassica oleracea Capitata group
INTRODUCTION
Come the so-called 'hungry gap' during April and May, the humble Spring Cabbage can be a very useful vegetable to have over the winter on your plot. It can be first used as spring 'greens', which will heart up like any other cabbage if left to mature. Generally, most varieties of Spring Cabbage are of the pointed form, but round varieties are now available with modern breeding.
All Cabbage types and varieties are highly nutritious and particularly high in fibre, beta-carotene, vitamin C and vitamin K.
